And all everyone could remember Kayla for was her cries.

Whether it was over something she wanted and couldn’t get, or something that, to her, felt like the end of the world.

But no one remember when she said “Thank you”,

Or when she lent a listening ear.

No one remembered how she always put her best foot forward,

And how she never hesitated to help those in need.

Now she remains quiet,

Her true self gone,

Leaving only what was made of her.

Now everybody asks;

“Why isn’t Kayla appreciative?”,

Or “Why doesn’t Kayla’s heart reflect kindness”?

Nobody stops to say,

“Maybe what I said affected her”,

Or “Maybe how I acted towards her contradicted how she felt about me”.

The blame was all Kayla’s,

Yes no one wondered who taught her to carry it.
